Urgent Appointments

If you require an appointment for a problem that you feel will not wait until the next available routine appointment, you will be given a time to attend – usually at the end of the morning surgery or at the beginning of afternoon surgery. You may not be able to see the doctor of your choice and may also have to wait longer than usual. Otherwise, you may telephone NHS Direct on 111 for advice any time of the day or night.

General Appointments

A few appointments can be booked up to 2 weeks in advance. If these are all taken you will need to attend or telephone the surgery on the day you require to see the doctor. If it is not possible to provide you with an appointment on the same day to see the doctor or another health professional within 48 hours you will be sent to another facility where you can be seen or treated as appropriate.

To speak to a doctor/nurse, around 9.30am is the best time. If that is not possible, the receptionist will give you the best time to call back or take a message which can be passed on to the appropriate person.

Advanced appointments will be given if the doctor needs to see you as part of follow up. Appointments to see the nurse or another member of our clinical team can be made in advance. If you wish to see a doctor of your choice by advance appointment you may need to wait longer until the next appointment is available.

Be on time or cancel your appointment

Please arrive promptly or remember to cancel your appointment if you can no longer keep it; someone else may need to see the doctor or nurse urgently. If you do not keep your appointment on three occasions without prior notice you will be removed from the practice.

Home Visits

Home visits can be arranged for those patients too ill to attend the surgery. Please use the service thoughtfully, and ring as early as possible in the morning to request a visit. The receptionist may ask for further information to enable the doctor to determine the priority and nature of the visit.

Home visits will NOT be made on account of transport problems.
